The Washington Post over the last month (that I noticed) has undergone some major changes. There are now fewer but much longer news articles, almost magazine like in content. There is more white space on each page, like your shrinking candy bar or bag of sugar. Finally there is more “stale” news, that is stories that were covered days earlier by other media. The stale news is reported with even less information than the original breaking story so I assume they are there just to occupy space. Of course the paper’s Sunday magazine Parade has gotten so sadly thin that it isn’t worth the effort to tear open the inner plastic wrapper of the Sunday edition to get to it.
